About Me

Meet Lori. Originally from Norman’s Cove, Trinity Bay NLFD but moved to town after high school some 30 years ago. I sound really old. LOL. I am married to by soulmate Sean Lake and we have a little black heinz 57 mix of a princess dog named Lucy.

We love to travel and we continue to build our bucket list of places to visit as I believe that the world is such a beautiful place and life is way too short not to marvel in its glory. I have a ridiculous passion for positivity and i strive to be a better person each day. I look to be inspired by the little things and I choose to live my best life on a daily basis

Staycationing for me started as a child as we toured the provinces campgrounds and explored nooks and crannies. We had to make our own fun back then. There were no trips to Florida or Disney for us it was Splash n Putt and Thomas Amusements, which seemed HUGE to me back then and the most exciting places in the world. So I do have very fond memories of touring the province as a child. When we got a little older my parents bought a piece of land by a pond not far from the town of Terra Nova. A little piece of heaven as my Dad called it. It very quickly became everyones happy place. The sweetest little town in the province I am sure of it. A waterfront property with a screened in cookhouse with a fire place and a car radio. My Dad LOVED it there. He had no desire to go anywhere else He put his heart and soul into that place and he told everyone about his SPOT in Turn Over ( with his accent that’s how he pronounced it. LOL) I could picture him sitting in the cookhouse with his tilley hat on with a glass of whiskey and listening to his favourite tunes. My Dad suddenly passed away in that cabin in 2019. I was there. I was heartbroken.

So last year my passion for Staycationing was reignited as we wanted to stay close to home to be close to family. We decided that 2019 would be a great year to start a Road Trippin’ kind of summer. We took a few road trips and LOVED it. Then along came 2020 and Snowmageddon and my COVID vacation. LOL. Then one morning over a cup of coffee and some Lucy snuggles I had a thought……. WHERE IN THE NAME OF GOD ARE WE GOING TO TRAVEL THIS YEAR. NFLD IS CLOSED! I decided to create a little FB group called StaycationNL in hopes to find some new adventures. StaycationNL was launched. I wanted to be inspired. I wanted to support local. I wanted to visit some off the beaten path places. I wanted to change my mindset. I wanted to be excited. I wanted others to see that being STUCK in this beautiful province was nothing to be upset about as we have access to unlimited amount of natural beauty, hidden gems, a talented group of musicians and artists, some of the BEST restaurants in the world and with the all the icebergs, whales and a vibrant unique culture filled with colorful characters why would we want to go anywhere else in the world.

Thank you for all the love on the SyacationNL group. Thank you for building the community. I enjoy the page every day. Welcome to my journey. Much Love

Lori
